I have several sets of the Irwin clamps mentioned by Mick72 - bought them a couple of years ago at Carbatec, and as far as I know they still stock them.
No threading required - I just ordered a couple of 6m lengths of the 3/4 black pipe from my local plumbing outlet, cut it up into a variety of useful lengths, and cleaned up the sawn ends with a fine file. I have more pipes than clamps, but just switch the heads between different length pipes as the job demands.
Never had any rust problems - I cleaned up the pipes before use, then gave them all a healthy coat of Ubeaut Trad Wax. The gripping mechanism for the heads still 'bites' just fine, and any glue splashed on the pipes just flicks off when dry.

They sound great and I will chase up a price but I think they will be a lot more expensive than the threaded version. You can buy the treaded clamps fairly cheaply and once you have bought the 3/4 die $16 then you're away. I picked a great near new well made pair of clamps at the markets a week or so back for $10, bargan. I have about a dozen of them now, with all the vaired lengths of pipe it's cheap option.
