I reckon it's a standard 7.62mm military rifle round (bullet).
I would plumb for the tin doing exactly what it says it is. Originally a tin of Germanium crystals for making (or changing the crystal in) Crystal Radio Sets. You tunes it by moving a wire (Cats Whisker) around over hte surface until a signal was received.
You can still buy them a science sets for children. Also the sets that PoWs were famous for making in WW2.Dragonfly
No-one suspects the dragonfly!

Have you heard that story about the guy who tried to draw an elephant from a description by a blind guy? I reckon those planes are like that - someone heard about them and tried to make them without ever seeing one...
Cheers, Richard

Maybe we'll never know.........
They work the same as other carpenters planes and are used for mouldings and dadoes. Have uploaded better photos.
The photos are much 'better', these planes look like common or garden wooden moulding/rebate planes.
Thanks to Luban for the loading original pics or I'd be forever confused.............We don't know how lucky we are......

Does anyone else think the two sets of photos are of different planes?

I think it is... He doesn't have anything else listed, and no other set of planes that have finished recently...

Those little things.
Hi Slow 6, Luban,
I too have one of those Wool Stitchers, & I was thinking that the "bomb" was Turned from the "Bullet".
Never knew exactly what the Stitcher did, but there was a couple of good replies in the other threads.
Regards,
issatree.

Had a look through 'The Dictionary of Woodworking Tools' (belongs to a mate) and the closest thing I could find was the Cocked Bead Plane. The setup of the irons was very similar, though the main iron at the back was further forward, the front iron is a spur cutter type. They were used for rebating the front of drawers.
There aren't many about........so is that what we have a picture of?We don't know how lucky we are......
