A Big Thankyou to Lie-Nielsen Australia
I would just like to let everyone know how impressed I am with the service, backup and friendly advice given to me by the blokes at Lie-Nielsen Australia. I was having a few problems with a 4 1/2 plane which was compounded by a stuff up by me. Phil Dixon and David Eckert sorted it for me and I am just so impressed how they resolved it and helped me out. Thanks........
Regards
Col

Ern, Phil and David are always at the show to help me empty my wallet. Their assistance has always been very good IMO too.

Yes, very helpful guys, its all part of a rather dastedly evil plan and I've fallen for it. Started with a dovetail saw at the Sydney show, then I found the web site, all the while Phil is being very helpful, oh that ones out of stock, I'll send you one of these. 14" Tenon saw, Rabbet block plane, oh the standard one is out of stock, I send you the new one with the nicker, various other small offerings all the while there evil plan is seeping through. Then the other day it was the No7 jointer. Yes, nice has been used for evil porposes, now I find I am selling things on epray to get more money for more niceness. I am a LN nice addict, I am waiting for things on back order, thinking of buying cheap air fairs to get to the wood shows for another fix. The web site just doen't have the same effect. Yes, Lie Nielson IS in Australia, for EVIL.
(Thanks for the great service guys)
Oh and I almost forgot, for a quick fix the freight is overnight or at the most two nights.

I had issues with new parts fitting an early model. Over the years LN must have tweaked the castings and I had an alignment problem that wasn't allowing the plane to function 100% to my liking. I made the problem worse with a bit of ham fisted filing. I solved an alignment problem but created a huge backlash in the blade adjustment and tight lateral adjustment. All is good now.
I agree with the earlier posts that LN is habit forming. Thanks (not) to Groggy I caught the LN bug and have now got a 4 1/2, 5, 6, 40, 60 1/2, 140, dovetail saw and a titemark gauge and a modified Stanley 8 with LN blade and chipbreaker. Not to mention the Vesper stuff. Out with the old and in with the new which will see me out. A 3 and a 7 ( I will get rid of the modified Stanley 8) will finish my LN collection later in the year. While waiting months for a replacement buzzer and thicknesser and not being able to do any actual woodwork it has been a case of idle hands spending up. They just feel right in the hand, are nice to look at and have and are a pleasure to use. I was saving my dough for some Lee Valley Veritas planes later in the year but having held a few planes they just don't suit me as the feel and handle shapes don't fit my small size hands.
