Default Third Plane Blades for Wooden Hand Planes Batch Order

I have been getting PM's from members asking me to run another batch order for wooden hand planes. So here we go again.

The steel will be M2, the blade thickness will be 4 mm or 6 mm in a wide variety, widths, and lengths, to suit virtually every need.

Here are the size, thicknesses, and prices, that will be on offer.

    • 25 x 4 x 80 mm @ $41.00
    • 30 x 4 x 80 mm @ $41.00

    • 40 x 4 x 50 mm @ $41.00
    • 40 x 4 x 100 mm @ $43.00
    • 40 x 4 x 150 mm @ $46.00
    • 40 x 4 x 200 mm @ $49.00

    • 50 x 4 x 60 mm @ $41.00
    • 50 x 4 x 100 mm @ $43.00
    • 50 x 4 x 150 mm @ $46.00
    • 50 x 4 x 200 mm @ $49.00

    • 50 x 6 x 100 mm @ $48.00
    • 50 x 6 x 150 mm @ $53.00
    • 50 x 6 x 200 mm @ $58.00

    • 60 x 6 x 100 mm @ $50.00
    • 60 x 6 x 150 mm @ $56.00
    • 60 x 6 x 200 mm @ $62.00

Per usual the steel will come from Bohler in Melbourne. The heat treating will be by Sutton Tools, and the milling and grinding will be done by Alco. The blades will be laser cut from a sheet, using the same tombstone theme used for the Stanley Plane Blades.

I have over estimated the cost, based on previous cost's we had for them in the past, plus a safety margin, so the price will be very stable.

    Attached is the usual pdf's.

The ETA for this order is three months. I do not want it to drag on for to long. So get your allocation in as soon as possible.

    Thumbsucker,
Been intending having a go at a plane one day. Is 4mm thick enough to get by without a chipbreaker. Thinking of a scrub plane for hardwoods. If so a 40x4x150 please.
    Regards
    John

John - Are you planing to make a tote, and knob scrub plane? Then yes the 150 mm would be better. If you are making low profile plane HNT/Krenov then a 100 mm would be better.

    50x6x150
    50x4x100

    1 of each

    Thumbsucker,
I would be having a handle at least, and perhaps a knob. Have not settled on a definate profile but intend having a bit of heft to help the work along.

    TS

I didn't put in for the original order (list attached to post #1 above) but if possible, I'd like 1 blade 50 x 4 x 100 mm @ $43.00 for my HNT Gordon Jack plane.

    Default Batch 5 plane blades?

    G'day Helmut,

I see that my name is down on the batch 5 plane blade PDF. Is that batch the one we are discussing here, or is it finished? If that batch is complete I must have missed something.

Just let me know if I owe you some money, don't want to be known as someone who commits and then doesn't pay.

    Regards,

    Anthony

Anthony - you expressed interest in some plane blades during the Stanley Batch order. If you are not interested in the blades anymore I will remove you from the list.
