Problem with Timbecon Torquata heavy duty pipe clamps
Recently I bought two sets of pipe clamps from Timbecon https://www.timbecon.com.au/torquata...ty-pipe-clamps . The clamps work fine, after I fixed the crushed starter thread on one of the pipes and tapped out the coating on the threads on the clamps. The coating is so thick that it's impossible to get the clamp on more than a few turns by hand. Even with a bar between the legs it will only go a couple of turns before it jams and you have to back off and remove the clamp and clear the threads. I was worried that I might break the legs with the strong force required to advance the thread. Not what I expect from a brand new item.
For the information of anyone else who buys those clamps, the tap is 3/4" BSP 14. Check the clamps before buying and if the threads are coated with the same coating as the rest of the clamp and if you don't have the correct tap, don't buy them.
