Default Tool Identification Specialist Hand Drill

A friend acquired a house that was filled with old tools. The man was a German migrant who brought a bunch of German tools with him.

Can anyone explain what this tool is. It is some kind of hand drill the round disks look like they are for machining metal on a milling machine. It also comes with a range of collets. It seems to be a metalworking tool. The OKO Saturn Werkstatt-Technik GmbH & Co. KG still exist today but it's German website just says specialist automotive tool maker.

in the world of precision engineering in vehicles, CNC control and the like I'd say it has little to no productive life left. Whether someone cares to preserve it from the perspective of interesting well engineered tools for it's time (whatever that may be), Aus WWF may not give you the right lead there. But there's always someone willing to part with an amount of cash, it's just how do you find that person "economically"

Might be of big interest to someone who likes that kind of stuff. It's the most elaborate kit of valve resuscitation gear I've ever seen. Those long cylindrical things - are they reamers? For cam-shaft bushings maybe? It seems to me it's a brand-specific sort of kit - did the old guy specialise in Mercs or something?

Don't chuck it out, there's bound to be someone who would happily carry it off to join his collection......

    Cheers,

I would suggest that the 'long reamer things' are for cleaning out valve guides

I did consider that, Hpf, & you may well be correct (it would make sense). The things I was talking about seem a bit large to fit valve guides, but it's hard to get a proper idea of size from a photo....

No problems Ian, the kit no doubt serviced a wide size of engines. I have seen them used on large truck engines

I certainly has value to the right person, vintage car restorer's, for one, sometimes they like to do things the they were done when the vehicle was built, some others believe that this type of unit gives them more finite control compared to modern powered units
