    Well thanks for all the info. I think it will be a missed chance as I cant go there myself and my children do not know one tool from another. It was an idea but I think it will not be possible. My daughter will be living in the US soon ..Maybe I could visit at some time.

    That's definitely the best way of doing it. If she doesn't stay there too long and returns to Australia soon, a good time to visit and buy up is just before she moves back. Then make sure you unpack the tools from their packets and use them a bit and pack all the tools in together with the stuff she ships back and they can come in as used personal effects so that even if it is more than $1000 worth of stuff it does not attract any import duty. I visited my brother just before he came back and did this and it was well worth it.

    my brother lives there. he complains about the high cost and low availability of tools relative to the mainland usa.
