Well as a first timer I thought the Turner post was worthy of the occasion. After recently inheriting a bunch of tools I started filling gaps and extending out in places. Turner planes certainly caught my attention in amongst the stanley herd. A couple of nice Turner 4s are getting facelifts at the moment. After reading some of the above posts though I dashed out to the shed, rummaged around and found 4 Turner screwdrivers from 6 inches to huge like the big bertha above. The favourite was the clear blue handled ratchet mechanism screwdriver (I think I see a faint T 152 on the handle) that was my grandfathers and I can remember from his shed in Sydney in the early 70s. The other nice realisation was the standard screwdriver that was Dad's automatic pickup when one was needed was also a Turner. It was used for everything, is still in great condition and regular use, additionally there is the pleasure I get from restoring and continuing to use Dad's tools. So there you go. A collection I didn't even know I had. Thanks for tempting me out of the shadows with all this Turner talk...

    Cheers

Like Jeremy I used to use lanolin spray on mine, but I found that while it was great at stopping any rust, it did tend to attract dirt, and on my planes looked very grubby after a while.
I have changed over to Camelia oil which I have been using for about twelve months.
It is available most cheaply up here in Coles supermarkets, in the health foods or organic foods section and is labelled Camelia Tea Oil.
