Veritas Ball Joint Scrapers
Has anyone used one of these scrapers? I noticed it on the Mik site and it looks interesting. In fact it looks very much like the cheap Carbide paint scraper that I have been using.
Veritas have adapted the same principle: a comfortable handle and a place to put the other hand to allow you to use weight on the scraper.
below is what they say on the Mik site.

For any major scraping work, nothing beats a ball-joint scraper. The handle can be set anywhere in a 70° cone, allowing a comfortable grip and effective blade orientation in virtually any circumstance. The hand rest on the blade allows substantial pressure to speed work. Available in two models, with or without handle so you can get both without having to buy two handles.

Hi -
I have a bit of a bias here...but it's a good scraper.
I also have (and like) the Sandvik scraper that takes the carbide inserts - it's the tool I reach for first when scraping paint. (the Veritas one stays in my shop).
What I like about the Veritas ball joint scraper is that one can angle the head relative to the axis of the handle - giving you a shear cut (much the way one would skew a plane in use)... When used for extended periods - it's less fatiguing than skewing an entire scraper - the force is always in-line with your forearm.
For use with a HCS blade, the ability to tilt the head let's you keep the most comfortable handle position, while still getting a burnished hook to engage properly.
The "lock-up" is a ball within a ball within a cup - it's VERY solid...
Hope that helps!

Thanks Rob,
I am hoping that Mik will have them at the WWW and will pick one up there.
