Veritas Router Plane - V shape blade issue
Picked up a new Veritas Router Plane, with all the metric blades this weekend including the V Shape Blade (For cross grain)
I noticed when using the V Shape or even the standard 1/2 inch blade that there is a slight forward angle. No issues using straight blades but the V shape actually creates a channel (Centre groove) due to the cutting angle.
No video or review seems to pick up on this issue.
I have undone the allen key bolt and rechecked the alignment etc.
Has anyone else had the same issue.

Jason
I have a Stanley router and have used a Lie-Nielsen
What I think you have described is normal
the router plane blade is like a normal plane blade, the cutting edge is angled upwards a bit relative to the surface being cut.regards from Alberta, Canada

you need some clearance behind the edge or it won't cut. that v cutter will probably be most useful for finishing corners and the like rather than large flat areas. you could experiment with reducing the clearance angle to *close* to zero right at the tip, but don't overdo it. with time it will probably tend to wear that way anyway. personally I think I'd rather have a little extra depth right under the corner of a set in hardware piece like a hinge than have a high spot there, or even completely level with the field- that's where sawdust and other shmutz will accumulate and be hardest to remove.
