Vesper does it again!
Mr. Chris Vesper .... tool maker extraordinaire!
I want to say how marvelous it is to deal with a person of this caliber.
Old fashion service followed by an ethical business service that is second to none.
Issue: unseen defect in a wooden handle of a carving knife. NO ONE could have foreseen the hidden fault in this wood. When I called Chris to ask if I was doing something wrong in looking after the wood he said "no. Send it to me and I will see if it can be fixed or need replacing".
Duly sent it off with a bizarre request regarding his makers mark to which he was more than happy to oblige me in.
Continued contact was kept with me to inform me of what was happening with the knife.
He said it was a fault in the wood and he would replace it. The knife he sent back was incredible. As well as the other part you sent Chris. That was incredible. I have never EVER had dealings with a professional like you. Thank you for the parcel.
I would recommend Vesper tools to every and any one who is interested in quality and ethical service.
May your life as a quality tool make be long and fruitful.
I will do everything in my power to ensure that everyone I speak to knows you are a person who can be trusted and dealt with in the knowledge of QUALITY tools and service.
Thank you Chris.
Regards,
Dave in Townsville

Well a BIG thankyou to you David, not only for appreciating good service but for appreciating quality tools and realizing you don't have to settle for second best in quality either.
I am really stretching the memory bank here but I think in 11 years of toolmaking this is the 3rd, maybe 4th return I have ever had.
1) I had a Joinery knife break from short grain in the handle.
2) A marking gauge had a non-structural crack in the body, no excuse ther as it should never have left my workshop.
3) this one from David, flaw in the timber.
4) I'm sure there was another one some years ago, can't remember what it was...?
Cheers,
Chris.

I wonder if Mustarka can say the same?
Nice to see craftsmanship, quality and service are still available.

I've had equally good service & attention from our other 'famous' toolmaker, Colen Clenton when a crack developed in the wooden stock of one of his early squares. That was fixed quite promptly and the customer was very happy.
It's nice to see there are still a few gentlemen in this cut-throat world. And if this kind of service doesn't repay itself in $$s, (I reckon it must, in the long run) at least you have the satisfaction of seeing in print now & then that people appreciate it!
So good on both of you - as the man sez, long may you flourish.
Cheers,IW
