Walke Moore Router Plane 2500P
I went looking for a router plane earlier this year and really liked the look of a Preston router. In particular the 2500P has a wider base than the Stanley / Record / LN / LV and you can move the blade to the end to give you a longer reference surface.

I looked around and soon found that these are rare as hens teeth and priced at collector prices. Even for well worn models missing parts.
So so I was pleasantly surprised to find US based tool company Walke Moore working on their version of the ultimate router plane based on the Preston 2500P.
You can read about their design thinking and decisions on their blog.

I decided to purchase one and it arrived this week nicely boxed and ready for use.
It comes with a single 1/2" blade but with a small mod you can make LV blades fit.
The fit and finish are good and it feels solid in the hand.
It is a little to swap the blade position but could be improved with a small chamfer on the hole for the locating pin on the collar.
I won't have time to put in to action for a few weeks due to other commitments but am looking forward to giving it a work out.
Here are a few snaps.
