    Default Warranted Jackson saw

While browsing through a pawn shop this weekend I came across this sorry looking saw, I think it's a dovetail saw.. Not sure, maybe it's just been sharpened a lot. It has a "Warranted Jackson Cast Steel" stamp on the spine and a "Warranted Superior" medallion. It had an open handed handle which is broken. Anyone else ever came along a saw like this? I'm thinking it could be one of the Jackson's which were made by Disston but I'm not sure.

Hi. Yes it is. Online Reference of Disston Saws -- Backsaws. Also found this information on the same site. Disston never carried an open-handled backsaw in its catalog, with the exception of the "Jackson" brand backsaw in the late 19th century and the "Davis" in the early 20th century. Jackson was a second-line brand with lesser quality in materials and finish than the Disston brand saws. It is shown with an open handle in the 1890 catalog. Later the Jackson saw was made with a closed handle only. Regards, Stewie.

Sorry to necro this thread (PM sent to johnnyrsa )

There seems to be a bit of confusion whether it is a Disston's or a separate make ?
