Anyone know why you keep coarse waterstones submerged yet not finer ones?
I have a combo 1000/6000 which currently swims. Should I beach half of it?

He was even invoked in Column 8 today
Detrimental affects of soaking your finer grit stones - none I know of.
Reason for soaking coarse stones but not finer - only that it is not necessary because the finer ones are less porous and so the water sits on the surface, therefore less is required. The coarse ones are better soaked so that they are waterlogged when you use them and so dry out less rapidly in use."I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."
