    Default Weird articles

I am a bit stunned that AWW magazine would devote such space to at best, Heath Robinson, at worst downright dangerous suggestions such as using an ironing board as a mitre saw stand and , unbelievably, a cardboard box for a dust collector in the latest edition. I am all for home remedies where practicable, but the ironing board idea, by the editors own comments, is a very dangerous suggestion. I can envisage the whole lot toppling over when some poor soul decides to deal with a reasonably hefty piece of timber. I would suggest Forum members will, like me, avoid such silly ideas, and be protective of their own well being, and that of others who may care to gaze on their creative moments.
And as to wasting valuable editorial space with a detailed article about using a cardboard box for a dust receptacle on a saw table, give us a break guys !
Maybe we should all be writing up our latest woodworking project, no matter how basic we think it might be, and submitting it for publication. The Editorial in basket must be very empty at the moment and we sure need to help them.
Conversely, what a great story the replica Wright flyer is.

I haven't bought a copy of AWW for a while now as I find it kind of amatureish.

Sort of more like a club newsletter really.

But using an ironing board as a SCMS stand?

I agree, thumbed through the magazine and then put it away.....I hope one day they do a proper review on sanders, the last one read like an advertisement for Festool, c'mon guys we can't all justify the cost of buying Festool no matter how much we would like to.
Everyone thinks I'm psychotic, except my friends deep in space

It's bad enough having to move the drill press from the ironing board every time I want to stand on it to reach something stored on the top shelf.

Maybe I should invest in another one.

That is what I HAVE been doing in the past year or two It helps to pay for the wood, even if they are a bit amateurish. I have not always been entirely happy with the results, since the current editor has adopted a policy of editing the article submitted, and publishing it without sending the proof back to the author for final correction. So if there is any misunderstanding or mistake, the author has no chance to correct it.

    By publishing cheap rubbish
    instead of good quality articles
Just shows that AWW is hungry.

In the next issue will there be a router table made from an old cardboard box? Or will the router table be made from an ironing board?

Nope, apparently the next feature will be a 14 page spread extolling the virtues of a table saw made from a sheet of marine ply nicked from the building site next door and a 20 year old B&D circular saw.

I agree guys - it's really taking a dive lately. Not even the ads are worth reading most of the time.

It must be just trying to fill the new A4 format .... from what I have seen it just seems to be more white space between the adverts than was there previously and the text is 14 font instead of 12.

I am a paid up subscriber so I can complain
