Thread: Who Used This?

I know nothing about Siegley planes, other than that they are serious handtool bling , but Stanley made a set of hollow and round attachments for the #45. These appear to be moulding attachments in a similar vein.
Are the irons actually marked Siegley? Could this be something that someone has made themselves?

The blades look to be hand made.
The plane itself many refer to as a type 5 from around 1886, possible a little earlier.
It's the only production model of the 2# Adjustable that had the two holes drilled in the skate.
So it was a very short lived thing.

It makes me think that although there is a hand made element to it.
It may well have be made in total by Siegley, as none of the blades appear to be like those made for
the regular 2#.
It's possible that there hand made because they weren't tooled up to make them.

It's a very extensive setup to say the least.

There are 50 of the wooden pieces that form hollows and rounds,
and a few other shapes I have no idea of!

Apart from the blades to make the hollows and rounds there are over 30 complex cutters.
Here's some of them all hand made, some almost 2 inch's wide.

I've got a basic understanding of what it all is, but I'm hoping someone can nail it down for me.

I'd love to know the history and application of all this.
Even the box it's in is Chestnut with hand cut dovetails!

Or possibly a made to order type thing.
We'll probably never know. Really well implemented.
Sharpen a few profiles and have a go. I'd like to know how it performs.
