Default Wooden Planes - expressions of interest

Hope this is ok to post here - if not please delete it.

I have about 6-8 wooden planes of various makes models and sizes. I'm probably never going to use them or tune them. They are just taking up space.

I'm just wondering before I go to the trouble of taking pics and describing them all, is there any interest from WW forumites in these, or are wooden planes a dime a dozen?

Also, I would like to offer them at a reasonable price, but really have no idea what a wooden plane is worth. There are so many makes types and conditions. I know this is not an auction site and I don't want to break the rules.

I can't be bothered eBaying them so don't suggest that.

    Any suggestions / interest?

Have you considered asking a local school if they would like them. You'd need to talk to the tech teacher to ensure they knew what was on offer.

Well, so far nobody is interested in my side beads and toothing plane in the for sale area. I think the easiest way to work out a reasonable price range is to check out Hans Brunner's or Stuart Minuskin's web site.

Yeah, I don't think there is that much demand for wooden planes to be honest.

not when you can get them at second hand store for $5.
Thats not the case for nice woodies though. It depend on the maker, the year, it's condition etc.
A set of hollow and rounds will cost you a small fortune. in good condition.

    Good condition is the key.

If there was a matched pair of tongue and groove planes, I'd be interested....

Wow, sometimes it is possible to miss out at the last minute - i posted at 12.51, and you'd posted as sold at 12.50.

Still after a pair of T&G planes, though.
    Cheers, Richard
