A word of praise
G'day folks,
On Friday 12th August I confirmed the delivery method (Xpress) for an order that I'd placed for a couple of hand planes, plus some other sundry bits 'n bobs. Today, I found at home a note from AP saying that the parcel, from Canada, was ready for collection from my local AP shop. Not bad eh?
For every order that I've placed with LV, I've received: 1. an e-mail confirmation of receipt, 2. a delivery question e-mail (i.e. which method I'd prefer, and its associated cost and estimated delivery time), and 3. a dispatch notification e-mail. Hard to beat when working with a company half the world away. And their goods are really good, to boot.
I'm starting to come to the conclusion that I need to install some site-blocking software that explicitly blocks Lee Valley, Lie Nielsen, and a few others...
Cheers!

You could cut up your credit card and send up to me all the goodies so you will not feel the need to buy more!

My experience with LV has been the same. Order get good communication details of shipping etc. It arrives promptly. Took 5 days for my order to get here from there.

If you ever get to Canada you should try popping into one of their shops.
Everything that's in the catalogue and then some. Plus their gardening stuff. Don't do it in the summer though, the family gets awfully hot in the car after a couple of hours.
On the other hand you have to get home via LAX, and explaining all of that stuff to the security staff gets old quickly.

Xpress post. Not being in the big smoke; AP tend to phart about a bit at times. Everything from super quick to super useless. And then the gooses at the "privatised" post office sign the stuff in but don't worry about sending out notice. Had one "lost" article sitting on their shelf for about 10 days that they didn't know of.

Lee Valley service is amazing.
12:15 today I placed an order.
12:36. Recieved the freight quote and choose a delivery option
1:04 Recieved a confirmation, an estimated delivery date and the goods are on the way.
I wish my local purchases were as quick, I am still "pending" on an order I place with Timbecon on the 27/7 and I confirmed they had stock before ordering!!!

My toys have arrived. For a 1st LV order; I am mighty pleased with the service and speed of delivery. Even APost excelled themselves today.
I thought that MIK were efficient; but for the distance involved; LV have to be the best.

Hi all,
I picked up the package from LV yesterday afternoon (and no Customs interference ), shot home & opened it up.
All the lovely goodies in fine order, and there was an additional bonus - the LV catalogue. The rotten B*st*rds! I spend a large part of last evening drooling over this; there's a whole ****pot full of goodies that don't show up on their website, or on local reseller's catalogues or websites.
The first list of "must haves" went to over two pages. Then I added it all up, swore a bit, then tore the list into very little bits.
I'll have to try again. The trouble is that a nice bit of additional income has just hit the decks, and now I've got to figure out how much to allocate to "essential, must have, right now" toys; ahem: tools. Then it's the old battle of LN or LV or...Oh bugger!
Cheers!

You have to give Rob Lee and everyone at LV their credit. They have most (large majority if not all) people being suckered into repetitive purchasing from their company. I for one have also done so myself . To get people keep going back for business is rare these days. I know there are others that also achieve this level of service, but they must be the #1 standout in the books of most.
