Hi all
I have had a CarbaTec MJ2325B for a few months now and am very happy with it.
So has a mate of mine - we bought at same time.
To all the new owners I offer one tip - when setting the fence, before locking push on both ends of the "T" piece at the handle end to square up then recheck distance then lock.
You might tighten the nut at the other end just a little.
Mine cuts square out of the box.
One more: for general not critical cuts I am using my 235mm circular sawblades to save my 254mm blades for my important cuts.
You can buy three 235 x 25.4 TCT blades from Bunnings for $20.00 (Medalist Brand)Have a good one

I also have the C'tec MJ2523B and up until now have only used it mainly for ripping, the height had never been to full as I only cut with the gullets showing, however, as some would know my RAS is still out of operation and I have made a sled for the MJ2523B and have been using it for a while - I did run into 1 little problem - the height raising wheel became very stiff at approx 3/4 height to the point it wouldn't budge. As I was now using a sled which decreased my height by approx 15mm I need all the height I could get.
To cut to the chase - the worm gear wheel had "rust welded" itself to the spacer behind it and onto the shaft on which it was supposed to rotate which then locked up onto the axle lock nut.
- took a bit to find the cause [especially on your hands and knees under the cast iron top, leaning into the cabinet and around the motor] - but once pulled apart and cleaned, greased it now works like it should have from new. The rusty bits appear to have been a "factory option" as the unit has done little work, never been exposed to water etc and this was the only place where there appears to be rust.

$1000 Table Saw
I have a Jet with cast iron table and wings. Not the cabinet saw though. Am very happy withit although I need to do something about the riving knife and some very, very slight blade runout.
If I had my time over I would buy Hafco. Less money and see little difference in quality. Moe to spend on other goodies too!
Often your saw will be as good as the fence. If the fence doesn't stay fixed and square, the rest is academic, Check how good the fence is on whatever you buy.

I second that. I got the MJ2523B and the fence is the only thing I would say is not what I would really want it to be. I have overcome the problem by measuring carefully the distance from the fence to the edge of the table so it stays square to the blade when I lock it down. That aside. its a good TS for the money.
Reality is no background music.
Cheers John

Special Price
I bought the MJ2325 saw from Timbecon in Perth last month which came with a bunch of extras for close to $1000. The same deal is over $1200 now.
It came with an extra blade, dust collector bag, book. router extension wing and a roller stand.
Great value for money. I have been waiting about 2 years for a special like that.
The saw seems to cut jarrah at a decent depth. I use a lot of recycled timber and its usaully quite old and regulary a bit hard.
The only drawback for me is the riving knife. I hate the fact that it is fixed and quite high. I wish I bought a TS with a riving knife that raised and lowered with the blade.
Saying that if anyone has a good mod for the riving knife and saw guard setup I would like to hear from you.
The other thing I did was take those stupid anti kickback things off which marked my nicely planed pieces of jarrah as I ran them through the saw.

Been considering the same thing for the last few months with the Wood Show coming up next week and had come to the same conclusion that it would be either a Carbatec MJ2325B or a Jet JWTS-10 BUT on Sat am when browsing through the trading Post I discovered a TSC 10HB for sale for $1050 and it was still available. Could not believe my luck as you don't ever see these come up for sale very often. It is now sitting in my shed. Only 18mths old and hardly used. All accessories where still wrapped up in heat sealed plastic - can't get much closer to new than that. Talk about heavy - picture SWMBO and self dragging it off trailer into shed. Made a ramp out of sleepers and hung off back gate. Finished assembling splitter and calibrating the fence and it runs like a dream. Can't believe my luck. Did anyone else see it for sale. Sorry if I beat you to it

We looked into this last year. As far as anyone could tell, you can legally replace a plug on your own table saw but you will be voiding your warranty and possibly your home insurance (if your house burns down and they find out it was your table saw that started it).

We have also been done the one where the insurer must prove that it was as a result of "incorrect wiring" and that there is a clause that specifically allows the insurer to refuse the claim. The mere fact that you wired it, does not negate your insurance. It's not that easy for them to avoid the policy. Most policies cover negligence of the home owner anyway. So if the home owner does it wrong but he was allowed to do it by law then he might be negligent. If negligence is covered then he's OK. If he were to touch the fixed wiring and that causes the problem then that's another matter as he is doing something illegal and that will be addressed in the policy.
Now is there any irony here?
