Default 12" Table saw blade flange size?

Hi Guys, just a couple of questions regarding table saws, I am in the process of making a 12" table saw for myself using a 3 phase 4hp induction motor and with the larger pulleys, it gives me a 4060RPM no load speed on the shaft. Just trying to find out what size flanges to make to clamp the blade on. The blade I am using is a 305mm 60 tooth with a 2mm body thickness. I tested it on a small piece of board without a large flange to see if everything is working properly which resulted in severe and dangerous flexing and oscillations. So definitly need to add the flanges before I try to cut properly. This table saw will eventually be connected to a control board and a VFD (currently connected to my wood lathe), so I can drop the speed down if I want but more so to provide a soft start and quick stop, and also provide circuit protection for the motor.

So my questions are: what size flanges does your 12" saw have, and would I also be better off to get a thicker blade? I am actually talking about the blade body thickness and not the carbide tip widths.

With the steel I have, I am hoping for a 85mm flange, is that big enough. I am trying to keep them as small as possible within reason as I need this saw to cut 105mm.

    Just remembered another question:

The saw blade cover under the table which will help contain the sawdust and has the suction hose connecter, are they made from steel or plastic or does it not matter?

    Cheers

    Ed.

    I have a 12m10a.

From memory the flange is total 65mm, but I'll hit it with the mic tomorrow and report back.

Good question on the dust collector. I have a mate (bloody Delbs) who just picked up a Hammer (sinful!) and it has a very funky "sleeve" that fits over the underside front of the blade. It's thick abs plastic. It sucks the dust direct from the source, rather than every other pissy system I've seen that uses a Great Big Nozzle on the side (with huge air volumes to overcome inadequacy)

I was considering to steal this design and make something out of 3mm ply..... Make a box that hangs off the arbor (arbor gantry?) to gather more dusts.

85mm flange will be stacks, got around 75mm (from memory) on the panel saw at work and that copes with a 14" blade (2.8mm body), the cheap Taiwanese 12" saw we had (until the motor died a few months ago) was around 65mm. 2.0-2.4 body is pretty standard for 12" blades so that shouldn't be an issue for you.

As for the cover/duct, the industrial saws usually have folded and welded/riveted sheet metal but pretty much anything will work.
