Default 2014 10" Cabinet Saw Comparison

    Hi WWF,

It is time to look a replacing my CarbaTec Contractors saw with a Cabinet saw that will hopefully be my last ever cabinet saw purchase.

I have started to pull together all the information I can find from multiple sources on all the 10" cabinet saws available for sale in Australia. The compilation is in its early days however I thought I would share what I have now and provide updates as time permits as there are bound to be others out there doing this research.

I have specific requirements (e.g. limited space) that will lead me to a particular model while others will have requirements that will lead them down a different path. At the very least I am hoping that sharing this will save some people some time and allow them to make a more informed decision.

    Feel free to provide updates\corrections\sources.

    Default Decision Made

    Hi WWF

Well I have made my decision and actually made my purchase. Spent the weekend modifying the man cave and installing my new baby.

I am now the proud owner of the Harvey HW110LGE-30. It just seemed to me to be the outright winner.

I have updated the research I was doing so hopefully the next researcher can pick it up from here and run with it

Watch out for my comprehensive review on the Harvey

    Default Brilliant

That is brilliant enough that I have to break my silence. Thanks!
I'm on the same hunt myself and getting frustrated with all the useful information I keep finding... from 2007, about saws no longer available.

Congrats on the new saw ^_^
    Looking forward to the review.

    Cheers

    Default I want one too!

I also want one of the 3 HP Harvey Table Saws. I am in Adelaide and wonder if someone knows where I might get a good deal on one? Perhaps with the sliding Table setup as well...Any comment on how noisy these machines are guys?

    thanks in advance.

I am pretty sure Major Woodworking will ship

In terms of noise this is a very subjective question. All I can say is that it is quieter then my last saw and that I have plenty of other tools that are much louder.

I just noticed that it is run by an induction motor, which will "purr"in comparison to what I am used to! It looks a great buy...

    Default Done!

I just bought the Norton 3HP Tablesaw with the extenson table. I'll have it sometime mid February! The good thing is I know I am going to like it and what it does. The only way I could have got more power and a biiger blade is by going 3 phase and I don't want to...Will let folks here know how it works out!

    thanks in advance.
I purchased a Harvey 3hp cabinet saw from get woodworking in Williamstown here in Melbourne 6 month's ago and have been really happy with the table. Initially I was going to get it from Get Woodworking in NSW but the price would have been the same as the price I paid here in Melbourne(as a $100 transport cost is added from NSW).

The other thing that I was told by Get Woodworking was that the delivery truck does not have ability to offload to ground level and I would need a few blokes to unload the 260Kg+ table of the truck. In your case however, as there is no one as far as I know dealing the Harvey saws in Adelaide, you have to get it transported from Melbourne or Sydney.

Noise wise, the table is great and is really solid and doesn't move at all and didn't have to align the blade. I recently purchased a Harvey add on sliding table for the saw which I haven't fitted yet which cost me $718 from TW Timberwork Sliding Table Attachment - Timberwork. To fit it I have to cut the fence and do some modifications to it.

If you are considering cutting full length sheets 2400X1200, maybe you should consider getting the 50" rail as you will lose some length. (That's if you are adding a sliding table)

    Good Luck

I'm also in Adelaide and seriously considering one of these. Might be worth trying for a better deal on a joint order?

    Default Could do!

Perhaps they'd look at that or at least a better shipping deal. You'd think?

Whoops TerryOz, didn't notice that you'd already ordered one - you don't mess around! Where did you end up ordering from?
If you're super keen we could try organise something but it might be too late if it's shipping in Feb. Send me a PM if you like.

Otherwise I'll keep daydreaming until the shed gets done and I'm forced to make a choice
