Hello, over the years, my cast iron table saw top has become a bit grotty, with stain marks and old rust marks that never quite disappeared after cleaning, and light scratch marks.

Normally I hit it with WD40 and then a Scotchbrite scouring pad fitted to my orbital sander to clean all the dirt and rust off, and then clean with metho and finally wax and buff. I probably do this every 6 months or so.

The problem is now after the latest cleaning it still looks stained, worn and battle scarred, dull or bright in various places.

Is there anything that I can apply, like a very fine abrasive powder, that will lift the finish of this cast iron top and make it appear more uniform in colour? ( Talcum powder?)

What about the Ubeaut EEE Ultrashine ? - according to the web site: EEE - Ultra Shine is a cut and polish paste wax containing Tripoli powder (also known in Australia as Rotten Stone) an ultra fine abrasive. The polish is designed to be used in conjunction with Shellawax Cream & liquid or as a finish in its own right on plastics and some stone.

I am open to any suggestions and ideas
