Estwing
One vote for Estwing , not cheap though either although I think they also have some "economy" models.

Personally I find prices, selection and availability of many woodworking items in NZ one big frustration, especially compared to AU and the US.Annular Grooved Nails....Ribbed for the Woods Pleasure?

Yeah the price differences are a major irritation to me. I bought an airbrush and some other stuff from the US about 12 months ago for US$350 but got hit with a nz$300 duty/gst thought id got myself a bargain, turns out not so much.

Mtech - getting back to the saws........
I bought a small JET tablesaw several years ago, but if I were buying again I'd be looking for a couple of features mine doesn't have.
(1) riving knife that rises and falls with the blade, rather than a fixed splitter
(2) a good fence (mine is OK, but could be better)
(3) Some form of small sliding table for crosscutting, with a fence that swings out of the way easily when ripping.
I appreciate that you probably don't get much choice in NZ, so it might be tricky to find all these features on one saw !

NZ Import Charges
Mtech, if you keep your overseas purchase (including postage) to under NZ$400 you're unlikely to get charged extra by customs. However, until recently I'd somehow managed to avoid paying anything extra, even on a NZ$2000 plus purchase! So it would appear there might also be a certain amount of luck involved as they don't check every package that is imported.
