Default Advice on Robland K26 Combination machine

    Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to the forums and only really just finding my feet in the whole woodworking space.

I'm at the stage where I need to replace my cheapie table saw for a "proper" model and I've been shopping around for ideas. The local guild newsletter has a 2nd hand Robland K26 combo saw/spindle moulder/planer-thicknesser and mortiser for sale.

I really need a new table saw and a thicknesser and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these machines?

    many thanks

    Default Robland K 26

    Hi
I have owned a Robland K26 for the past 19 years and would have to say it's been a great little machine. My machine was manufactured in 1984 and was 6 years old when I bought it, it still had the original jointer and saw blades.
I have used it to make kitchen cabinet carcases, fielded panel kitchen doors, paneled doors, reproduction joinery for a federation house restoration and various bookcases and cabinets for myself and the family.Etc,Etc.
I recently replaced all the bearings using a hydraulic puller kit and reinstalled SKF bearings as per original spec. It still runs on the original flat drive belts and motors
I understand spares are no longer available from Robland, I think however it would not be too hard to keep it going for a while longer
    Hope that helps your decision

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for that. I've decided to go ahead (space is really an issue for me). I'm going to be starting out using it for my box making and furniture and hopefully I'll get as much use from it as you have.

    Cheers
