Advice on a table saw or mitre saw.
Hi everyone
I have been thinking about upgrading my mitre saw
I currently have this one that I stole from my fil. Ozito 210mm 1600W 81/4" Compound Mitre Saw - Bunnings Australia
It's truly awful but it's 15 years old and still "working".
It does cut at a permanent angle. But I've used it to cut some decking boards and other general home diy stuff.
So I was looking at finding a second hand sliding mitre saw like the mobato kgs126m. But after reading some internet posts and Reddit forums some people have recommended just getting a table saw as it has so many more uses. And it got me thinking. I could keep the ozito and also buy a entry level table saw. Thoughts?
What I'm thinking of making:
Maybe and interior studd wall in basement/workshop (non load bearing)
Kids toys
Boxes/chests.
Vege garden beds
Steps in garden from sleepers
Upgrade my current bench that came with the house
Some selves and cabinets
So knowing this
What option Is vest for my needs?
Option one : keep ozito and get a entry level table saw.
Option two: ditch ozito and get something like the mobato kgs216m
Thanks for the advice

Definitely keep it; it still works, it's free and much more convenient for crosscuts.
If it's a choice between a fancy mitre saw or a table saw, I'd get the table saw. You already have a mitre saw that will do what you need well enough and if you want to work with sheet goods or do any ripping a table saw is basically a must. Or a track saw. I dunno, I haven't used one.

That's an interesting mix of projects. You could get a portable table saw (like the Dewalt 7485 or 7491) and a tracksaw (with a riving knife) as well. Very little play in the Dewalt rip fence. Best to replace the miter gauge.
Alternatively, if you don't need portability and have the space, you could just get a larger table saw (like the Laguna Fusion 2). It's also less convenient for friends or family to steal a 100kg+ saw!
Definitely keep the mitre saw as elanjacobs suggested. Even though it's a small Ozito it will come in handy.

Hi SMG. Some of your projects (stud walls, garden beds and steps) would only need a circular saw and track saws are best suited to cutting large panels (ply wood, mdf, melamine etc)

I never considered, nor did I know the existence of a track saw. Looks interesting will do some research but it kinda sounds like I'm on the hunt for a table saw or possibly a track saw. Table saw seems a little all rounder to me.
