Thread: Aldi table saw

I had one of these and it worked quite well until I got over enthusiastic and shoved a big piece of wet 200/75 through it and let its smoke out.
For small work (up to 100/45 in dry) it was good for its price.

My first power saw was one similar to the Aldi one.

Will enable you to make things that would otherwise not be able to ... but respect its limits and capacity. They are fine for rip cuts on under say 40mm pine stock, and for hardwood. Dont force the blade ..... be safe

The bevel cuts will take some fine tuning, and cross cuts will be difficult due to the table size and poor mitre slots.

That said ... I still use the small furniture items made on my cheapie saw.

Just got to make sure the femce is solid as it can be and square to the blade. ..... I doubt that any cuts will be of finish quality, need to plane the finish, but that is true for most table saw cuts.

Give it a go ..... see how well you can use it.

I have had 1 of these for 5 years, done a lot of work, like any power tool, respect its design capabilities, use correct toothed and SHARP blade and it will give you great service.
I even fitted a zero clearance insert for the blade, yes it can be done and if anyone wants proof I will put up a photo. Fit a sacrificial timber fence and make it longer than the table both ends improves ripping considerably. Have done some fairly detailed site joinery with it with very good results.

I had one a few years ago. Got me started and was OK. The fence is crap, better clamping a piece of wood or something if you are ripping. The blade is also crap, cuts a lot better with a decent blade. The mitre guage is a sloppy fit too. BUT for $150 + $80-$100 for a good blade, you can get some decent work out of it. It just takes a little more effort and planning.

Forgot to mention, I threw the crap press metal wings and legs out, never used them

I see OZITO table saw is on sale in Bunnings for $145 this week. It also has a 3 year warranty. They are basically the same saw. I also threw out the crap metal wings haha. Bunnings must have seen the Aldi catalogue!
