Belt for Delta tablesaw
Hi all I have a Delta tablesaw 36-600 and I'm ripping through drive belts approx. 1 every 2 mths. I have replaced 3 this year, I have checked the pulleys, they seem ok. Has anyone got this model tablesaw? Do you have the same problems? The belt is XL100. I am only a hobbiest, so I dont use the saw hard.
Maybe someone knows of a stronger belt, I'm sure there is someone in this fantastic forum who can help me

Hi Billylad,
I have a delta contractors saw and have no trouble with the belt. I suspect the pulley on the motor is not in line with the one on the shaft. Is the belt worn out on one side? There is some scope to move the motor mount base and the pulley on the motor shaft can be moved a bit by slacking off the grub screw. Be careful not to loose the key for the shaft spline if you take it right off.
Regards
John

I also have the same saw and have no trouble with the belt. I think Orraloon is correct that the motor pulley and the arbor pulley are not lined up.
Just get a straight edge or steel rule and place it across the flat face of the motor pulley and see if it lines up with the flat face of the arbor pulley. If not, there is plenty of adjustment available in the motor base and pulley to line it up.
Hopefully, that's your problem, 'cos it's easy to fix.
Cheers

Delta tablesaw belt
Thanks for your quick reply Orraloon & Geoff, there is no pulley on the shaft. The shaft comes out of the motor as one piece with grooves in the shaft which then drives the belt which is attached to the pulley which drives the saw blade, cant replace the shaft in the motor as you would have to replace the whole motor. The belt is running true alaignment, the teeth under the belt are chewing out quickly, I wonder if I have the right belt for it?, I was wondering if you have the same model 36-600 I wonder what no. belt you have, mine says XL100 Thanks for your help

OK....I see. Looked it up on Google.
Totally different to mine. Mine uses a V-belt with a pulley on the motor and on the arbor. I haven't seen one with the toothed belt before.
Sorry, can't be of any help.
Cheers

Thanks for replies all. I have checked all as suggested, the only thing I can think of is maybe I am buying cheap belts.will buy online from yankeeland, to see if better belts
Nc-archer can not find any way of adjusting tension. If you by chance have the same model tablesaw, have you not had any problems of belt wearing.
Thanks all for help
