Benchtop tablesaw with dado capacity
I am wishing to buy a good quality benchtop tablesaw but I am wanting dado blade capacity. Is there anyone out there who has a benchtop saw and can tell me whether it takes dado blades and if so to what size and how successful the machine has been?

I think you will find it to be very rare beast indeed to find. I have not come across a table-top based table saw with dado capability yet! ??? If budget does not allow for more size able table saw then consider a router for your trenching needs....

Dado Option
You will find a lot of saws will accommodate a set Of Dado Blades.
I have a 250mm Jet Contractors Saw. I chose it because it has a cast iron table with 2 grooves to take a protractor push fence,(will also take a tennonig jig) 45 degree maximum blade tilt to the right and as well as having enough main shaft length to fit a 7" Dado set (from Carbitec) which gives a trench up to 20mm wide and about 17mm deep. The dado set is a nest of blades that you can add or subtract different thickness blades to get the size you need. In practice I have found the results are not only satisfactory but quite quick and effortlessJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

I agree ..... Contractors saws can have alot of good features and cost effective solution. In my above reply I was referring more to the original post in relation to bench top based table saws....ones like that are sold at Bunnings, etc.
Cheers

To see if a particular saw will accommodate a set of dado blades, look at the main shaft where the standard blade is held on by a nut and large discs to support the blade. If there is say 30mm of extra thread showing then you are in business. You would remove the standard blade leaving the support disc where it is fit the dado set with the other disc for support and replace the nut. (remember it will be a lefthand thread, Tighten anticlockwise)
Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

Back to the original question, looking at brochures it appears that the dewalt bench top unit will take up to a 13 mm dado. I was hoping the more expensive (2704 I think) would but the Internet brochure doesn't say anything about dados
