Default saw blade tilt both ways?

Just wondering how useful is a panel saw with the saw blade that’s capable of tilting +46 to -46 deg ? I am upgrading but downsizing my panel saw and this feature came up on newer panel saw.

I can think of 1-2 scenario where this will be handy, but yet to think of something substantial.

SCM has some new panel saw that’s capable of +/- 46 deg,

you do pay a premium for it compare to traditional one way tilt of 45 deg.

I have the option to settle with better build or ones with this option - works out about the same price.

    Thank you for your time.

Altendorf do them as well, it's been around for several years. It would be great if you do a lot of sheet goods because it allows you to run mitred edges off the rip fence with the good face up.

I'd be inclined to get it; any saw that has it is going to be a pretty solid machine already and the added flexibility is always good. You'll find uses for it and wonder how you managed before. What "better built" saws are you comparing it to?

    Thanks Elan.

I am looking at SCM L’Invincibile (standard 0-45deg) or their Class si X (which can do +/- 46 deg)

    Tough decision.

My last saw, or maybe it was the one before that, was an Altendorf that had the double tilt blade. It was good, handy actually. But I still like the Martin I have now better. It only tilts one way though.

As nice as the L'Invincible badge is, I think you will get more value out of the Class; bigger blade capacity, bigger motor and double tilt over a nicer control screen and fancy badges. But hey, that's just my opinion

Looking at the catalogue, the Class si x lists the scoring unit as Option...just thought I'd mention in case you missed it

Thanks Elan, my thoughts as well. its funny how the Class with options added will cost $5k more than the base model L'Invincible si 3!

Felder agent also called me late this afternoon, they must know that I am about to put a deposit down for the Class/L'Invincibile. gave me a ridiculous price of a Felder Kappa 590, which can also do +/- 46 deg, Felder has PCS, similar to Sawstop but should be better - you can continue use your saw once the PCS is activated.

    Gonna check out Felder tomorrow.
