    Hi Prle77

If you are worried about the weight for future moves etc then consider the Jet 10" contractors saw. I have one and are very happy with it and I paid about $860 (new) six or so months ago. There is a bit of work involved in the set up but if you follow the instructions and get some help from forum members you will get there.

    Cheers

    Heya tdrumnut
went similar pathways.. got myself Carbatec 10" contractors saw
Got it on special (came with two CMT blades)..
straight away modded by adding digital fence readout which imediately fixed the common issue where the standard measurement strip was factory inacurate...
Additionally as I'm in possesion of around 15 sheets of ply which I wanted to cut, I had to make support extension tables .. followed by a dust collector and a combination belt and disc sander .. lets just say ... carbatec guys know me quite well there ...
Would go even further but SWMBO has sort of put a stop on my tool expansion.. for now..
next in plan is a drill press pending SWMBO official stamp of approval..
Anyway.. quite happy with the saw... So much quieter than my triton!!! Actually makes me enjoy chippinng around..

    Hi Prle77

good to see you got it sorted & the extra gear as well I have to admit it's so much more enjoyable when you've got the gear you want and working the way you want/expect. good luck with you future projects.

I have been agonizing over the same issue as Prle77.
The Bosch 10" GTS 10 XS is currently on special for $995 at Carbatec.

After some research on the forum, I decided that the Jet 10" contractors saw was best for quality and value. It was my clear choice, to the extent that I downloaded the manual.

The relevant page for contractors saw on the US Jet Website is blank. Nil entry, and I wondered if the saw had been discontinued.
I contacted the Jet dealer in Adelaide, who made enquiries with Jet Australia.
The response was that there are none available in Australia, and that If I wanted one, it would have to be ordered from the US. The amount quoted was $1,130

I would greatly appreciate your help please.

Is it supplied with 10 amp or 15 amp plug?
Which dealer did you buy it from?
Like Prle77, I am concerned about the weight.
I believe that the motor is already mounted in the cabinet, as supplied. Am I correct?
From a weight perspective, how difficult is it to turn the cabinet upside down to mount the legs, and then lift it upright on the legs? I live alone, can it be achieved without help?
I am thinking about dragging it out of my Transit van onto a hydraulic lift table, and mounting the legs whilst on the lift table, then lowering the lift table. Then turning the saw over on to the legs. What position is the saw in when you opened the box, facing up or down, and were you able to easily remove it from the box, or did you cut the carton?
Did you have to order your saw, and wait for it to arrive fron US, or was it immediately available? If you waited for it to come from US, how long did you have to wait?

I hope that you are able to help me so that I can make a final decision.

    Thank you,
    Jim

The Jet 10 looks quite similar to the Carabtec 10 that Prle77 just purchased.
Best you get the Carbatec 10; it seems bit better priced.
Both Carbatec 10 and JET 10 look like lovely contractor's table saws, and better quality than the Bosch GTS 10 XC's in the opening post OP, though significantly bigger and heavier too...

Bosch Professional Table Saw GTS10XC and Stand : CARBA-TEC

Hi Prle - well I've just spent a few days trying to get my new GTS10XC (from Carbatec) to perform, to no avail. Despite hours and hours of set-up and fine-tuning the blade strays and jams, burning and wrecking the stock.

Perhaps the stock blade is completely unsuitable, but I suspect more deep rooted problems with fundamental alignments and rigidity of components. I will give them one chance to rectify, then request a re-fund. I suspect that this will be a battle.

Btw I just read on the Carba-tec website that they are now the distributor of the JET tools. Kicking myself that I didn't know about this a week ago - I would have chosen the JET contractor saw instead.

So in a nuntshell - I would strongy recommend AGAINST the Bosch saw. Save yourself the heartache.

    Heya M Brisbane
    Don't kick yourself
they have just became Jet Agents about a week ago... (pretty much day or two after your purchase (approx)
Their Jet tablesaw range is still pretty basic.. give them some time (i guess they need to organise all stock)
I know that melbourne store still has no Jet products in the showroom..
been spending bit of time there..
Anyway I have moved away from the bosch one and went to the sub $1000 table saw..
came out good.. bit of prons.. bit of cons.. but overall for a saw that runs on 10A.. i'm quite happy

Update on the Bosch - it was sent back to the Bosch service department in Melbourne and they tweaked the alignment (although it was found to be within factory specs). I swapped out the blade and presto - now it's working well, at least so far. I'll let you know if any problems arise.

If anyone is planning to buy this saw, I strongly recommend that you toss out the stock blade immediately and replace it with a quality product.
