Usually, but not being familiar with that machine, the rise and fall lever is situated next to and below the scribing blade. As I said usually, you push the travelling table past the blade until it exposes the scribing blade. You should locate the lever in that opening. There would also be the adjusting points to move the scriber side ways as well (May be only 3-5mm).

I would go on a search and find trip and just see what is and where is where.

PS The scriber only needs to score up to 2mm of the bottom surface. I have seen some operators set the scriber up around 5mm and then complain when it starts to chip the melamine when the blade becomes dull from working too hard.

Now you mention it the book does tell me to do that to change/move sideways the scribing blade, so logic (now) tells me I should look there...

Yep, get the 2mm thing, the idea is to do the melamine coating...
I'd be scared to try and cut up to 5mm with that tiny blade!
