    Default Cabinet saw quandary

So I find myself looking to get a new cabinet saw.
I currently have a Dewalt DWE7485-XE which I've had for a few years. It's been good, and reliable, but my needs have grown and I really need something more robust that produces better cuts and can mow through hardwood without choking (among other things)..... I mean - any excuse for a new bit of kit.... lol
I have been saving for the better part of 8 months and can stretch to around $3k
    I have a shortlist of
    1. Carbatec 250mm cabinet saw with the 30" fence ($2497)
    2. Timbecon Sherwood 10in Heavy-Duty Cabinet Saw ($2999 for Nov - on sale , normally $3199)

The Sherwood LOOKS more solid and heavy, but while there are a few reviews for the Carbatec saw, I can't find any in depth reviews of the Sherwood (other than one for the hybrid saw - which was a pretty good review to be honest).
Also - the overhead dust guard for the sherwood is an additional $349..... The Carbatec saw comes with it as part of the price.

ANY help or suggestions would be appreciated....

If you search Google for an MBS-250 you should be able to find reviews on the Sherwood saw. The same basic saw has been marketed under a number of different brand names for well over 20 years. It is a very solid machine and well regarded from all that I've ever read. Can't help you as far as which one to go for though.

I like the quick release overhead guard and riving knife on the Carbatec. The wood club I go to has the overhead guard that can be purchased with the Timbecon unit and I find it very awkward to use as it always seems to be in the way because it's so bulky. Being able to quickly remove the guard and fit the splitter for non through cuts is a winner for me.

I have the MBS300, I bought it from Gregory Machinery about 15 years ago. Still loving it.
The dust collection could be better, I should get around to modifying it one day and put a 150mm port in the cabinet.
I bought the slider for mine, it does an acceptable job, but not up to the standard of the higher end saws.

My Carbatec is coming up to 3 years old now and hasn't missed a beat, I love the thing. Everything is adjustable so I can zero everything out using digital setup tools. My only gripe is the manual as its cack.

Thanks everyone.... I'm definitely leaning towards the Carbatec. I'll see if there are some christmas sales on - and try and get a few $$ off...

If you do go for the Carbatec, make sure to check out some of my posts, I had to discover alot for myself as the manual didn't cover certain parts of the machine like the elusive set screw and transport bracket bolt!.
