    Default Carba-Tec 10" HD Contractors Saw CTJ-650

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who owns this model. Happy with it? Any particular issues with it? I figure I'll probably be buying one of these soon. It'll only be for light/occasional use. I don't want a 15 amp model or anything too heavy to move around.

    Cheers,
    CL

I subsequently discovered that this saw is also known as the Delta 36-650 and I was able to find a reasonable amount of info here and elsewhere by searching that instead.

    Re ctj 650

Just bought one - cut about 600 long bit of jarrah 25mm thick - cut very nice but on the next cut the saw just stopped dead then spun a few times and then the start capacitor gave a puff of smoke then leaked electrolyte from its housing

My supplier here in Bunbury rang Carbatec who informed them that this is a known fault but does not affect all the motors. Apparently the centrifigul switch is not adjusted correctly and the start capacitor is left in cct all the time

The motor now has been sent back to CTec for repair, who, even if they have received the motor, are unable to do the repair until at least next monday because their dispatch person is not there until monday- so I am not a happy little vegemite

When I was looking for a saw CTec told me that it does not come with a blade - it does have one in the pack = the right and left hand syndrome is alive and kicking there

It is a very solid saw but the footings slide onto the legs. These footings have a hole in the bottom for a bolt mounting but I have not used them and instead have drilled a hole through the cross members and the pine trolley I made for the saw( space in my pig sty -oops shed is at a premium) and have used metal threads to bolt the saw to the trolley to make the saw safer to move around as it is a bit top heavy - the legs bite into the wood - see attachment and note that the bloody motor is not attched
