Carbatec 10L vs SB12
Folks, managed to take the time to check out the SB1012 saw today.
I guess the age old adage that you get what you pay for is true. The SB12 is a nice unit for $1600 but certainly not worth more. It does not measure up to the quality of the Carba-tec 10L. The later is a more substantial unit in feel and quality. The former has the nice feature of being able to use a 12" blade on the occasions when you need it. What may have gone against it (for me) may have also been it's condition on display. The showroom was very dusty with some corrosion showing on the table top, which did not feel or appear to be as hefty as the 10L.
I think I will save a little longer (another $700...ouch) and buy the Carba-tec unit.

The TradeTools 12M10A for $1198 looks identical to the $1700 SB12 from Woodworking Warehouse and the SB1012C from Major Woodworking Equipment at $1650 as mentioned earlier in this thread.
TradeTools
So the cost comparison between the Carbatec TSCE10L at $2595 is more stark.
The TSCE10L also has a spindle lock for easier blade changing and a quick release lever for the riving knife. Although the Carbatec web site says it has a fixed riving knife, in fact it is a rise and fall type riving knife.
I am saving up for this saw and hope to purchase when they have a 3 day 10% off sale !

Wow! $1200.....now at that price it makes it more attractive again....and probably closer to the true value.
The 10L is definitely the heftier built saw but.....well as Uncle AI says he finds The SB12C a good saw! The 10L at 10%discount is still around $2300......$1100 more.....
would pay for an Incra LS!
Ah do I talk myself into it....
