    Default Carbatec C250P Blade Alignment

    Hi all

I have made a discovery with the Carbatec C250P TS.

My blade alignment was sitting at 0.16mm after a recent move and no matter how much a tried to adjust table using the method in the manual I could not better it. I decided to tear the saw down so that I was only trying to tap the main middle section of the table, i.e. reducing the amount of mass I had to move.

Once I had just the middle section of table on the cabinet I still could not budge the table. Turns out the table has 2x 2.5mm grub screw holding it in place. This is in addition to the 4x bolts. These are not mentioned in the owners manual. The screws are place diagonally across from each other and are a precision fit so with them installed there is no way to align blade by tapping table.

I also noticed adjustment bolts to the sides of the trunnion on the front of the saw. Is this normal? They look as though they could be used to align blade to mitre slot. See photos below, including screen shot of manual for blade alignment. Very helpful that Fig. 31 is just four arrows...

With the grub screws holding the table firmly in place is it possible the manual is completely wrong and the alignment is done at the front of the trunnion with the bolts?

A little update on this matter. Figured I would detail my findings in case others have trouble in the future and cant work out what to do from the out of date Carbatec manual.
Having looked at similar saw manuals the Harvey Alpha manual details how to correctly align the blade.

It would seem the C250 saw has received revisions but not the manual. The grub screws are basically impossible to see unless you completely remove the bolts attaching table to the base. I placed one grub screw in place and used it as my pivot point to align the blade. Got it to within 0.01mm which is good enough for me.

I could only retain one of the grub screws though. As soon as I went to install the second grub screw in the opposite corner to secure the top in place the blade went out of alignment by up to 0.18mm. I guess the machining of the holes on the base do not line up with the tapped holes to the underside of the top.

In any event, happy to have the saw back together and tuned properly. Having the top completely off did provide a good opportunity to clean it out and do some long overdue maintenance.

That's very surprising that the manual doesn't match the machine It looks like from your photos that they align the blade at the factory and then pin the table in place by drilling and tapping the 5mm holes through the frame and table to keep it from moving. Somehow yours has either moved over time or was never quite right from the start. Maybe it was within their tolerance at the factory as the manual says to get the blade within 0.2mm and your original reading was only 0.16.
