Default Carbatec Professional 250mm Cabinet Saw with 30" T-Glide Fence Kit

Can anyone who has purchased one of these confirm the amount they paid for delivery?. I'm in Wallan, Victoria and was quoted: $236.87, seems abit expensive?...

That’s a reasonable rate, I do some machinery removals and I can tell you straight up, you’d be looking at least $4 or 500 if I was to do it

Mine cost $251.35 to deliver about 350km south of Perth back in May. According to google Wallan is about 40km from Melbourne. If freight is calculated from the nearest Carbatec store $230 odd dollars seems a bit excessive to me, but if that's what they're charging that 's what you pay unless you're going to go and pick it up I guess.

Carbatec, Springvale to Wallan is about 90 km, and will take about 1 1/4hrs + by car. It may also involve road tolls.

If you were to hire a vehicle and a driver, for 3 hours you would be looking at about $55 + for the vehicle, and then the cost of the driver, lets say $40 an hour or $ 120. Total $175.
This does not include fuel or a trolley to help move the load. If it is a wet day a van would be more suitable but would cost $10 more. All this assumes there are no hold ups with pick up of vehicle and the saw, and the same with drop off.

Now I guess you will want to strap the load down and I have not included the cost of tie down straps.

Is your quote of $236.87, expensive? Perhaps? You could do it for less but is it worth the hassle and risks. My bet if I was to do it I would allow 4 hours, not the 3 budgeted for due to possible hold ups at pick up and drop off. Also vehicle hire is not next door to home or Carbatec so additional travel is involved.
Now if you can find some one in Wallan or district who does regular delivery runs to the Springvale / Dandenong area who has the capacity to move your machinery you might get a better price.

The other thing is with Covid-19 restrictions, hiring a vehicle may be a bit harder than normal. Currently Bunnings Hire Shop in Victoria is not operating.

You'll probably also find they'll unload and dump it in your shed/garage.

You will have to battle and get it off a trailer/ute your self or with a few mates. After the first 30mins of battling you may have wished you just payed the few

Quote from Carbatec was within that range but I ended up using a local taxi truck company with a tail gate lift and it cost me $100. I only live about 3km from my local Carbatec though.

I'm starting to get worried about how heavy & bulky they are now! , I'm glad I brought a mobile base for it as suggested by someone on here!.
