Default A way to make cheap table saw crank better?

    Hi,

Bought a cheap ozito table saw from Bunnings a few years ago and it is now extremely tight to crank it up and down. Wondering if there is anything one can do at home to make it looser again?

    Thanks.

You may improve it by simply putting some dry lube or candle wax on the moving parts. If that doesn't help you will need to pull it apart, clean, lubricate with an appropriate materials for the particular application, and reassemble. It might take a while but it will be time well spent.

    Hi Aidan,

    Welcome to the forum.

Have you opened it up and taken a look at the mechanism? My first thought is that its probably got caked on dust making the mechanism bind. If so you'll need to give it a good clean, ie wire brush and elbow grease. If it all looks fine i'd second the notion of giving everything a good lubrication with some dry lube.

Depending on usage this is something that does need to be done regularly.

Default Ozito is what it is!

General rule is clean well all relevant parts -threads etc. and use DRY lube PTFC etc. as things like WD40 etc. help quickly and then attract dust which makes the problem come back again.

WD40 make a silicone spray which works well, doesn't gunk up
