Default Cleaning blades and the value of coatings

My 2nd-hand saw came with a bunch of blades, some of which were in a bit of a state - absolutely caked in resin. I thought I'd have a go at cleaning them.

What was very clear from the start was how much easier the more expensive 'coated' blades were to clean, no matter how much resin buildup there was. Felder do several different grade of blade - the 'Hammer' series are the cheapest, and the Silent Power Silver are the priciest. The 'Silvers' are chrome-coated.

The Silver blades came out looking like new with very little effort. The Hammer blades on the other hand, remain slightly grubby, despite considerable time in the cleaning solution, and elbow grease.

I'd spend the extra on the Silent Power Silver if I was buying.

Good info, initially cheap not always cheap in the long run.
Not sure what you used to clean them but I've had good success with oven cleaner and a little scrubbing the stubbin bits with a scouring pad

The stuff I used is kind to small furry animals, so I may have a crack with something more potent +/- a bit of scouring

Try boiling water and it is cheap and eco friendly.
