Same Saw! Great Thread
Hi Snowyskiesau,
I have only just found your thread after recently joining the forum. As luck would have it I have just acquired the exact same saw as the one John Heisz did the rebuild on so it looks like I might be starting out on the same rebuilding journey!
Just wanted to see if you were able to identify a supplier in Australia for some of the parts for these saws as they're very similar. In particular I'd be keen to hear if you've found somewhere that has the arbour and pulley as mine has been played with by the previous owner and needs to be machined or replaced.
Finally, what a great threat. I have searched everywhere for information on these saws and this is the best resource I have found with pics and links to everything I need.
Cheers
Dan

Hi Dan,
Other than the bearings and belt, mine hasn't required the replacement of any specific parts so I can't help with a source.
I doubt that the general design of the saw has changed a lot since mine was made (1986) so while that's a plus, finding someone who actually stocks parts may be an issue. I think John Heisz got his spares from Busy Bee in Canada so that might be worth a try if all else fails.
What sort of machining does the arbor need? If you can provide details here, perhaps someone will be able to do it for you.Geoff

Thanks for the quick response.
I have been trying to find out as much information regarding these saws and I get the impression that they were sold as Busy Bee, Delta 12", Rockwell and Baker Machinery and are just getting too old to now for parts to be readily available. I did however find the following link to a Delta 12" contractor saw model number 34-388 which is identical to the one that I have. http://www.deltamachineryparts.com/shop/34-388-1/#
I have contacted Busy Bee in Canada and they wont ship to Australia. Delta have also discontinued the arbor itself however some of the other parts (washers, nuts etc) are still available from the US which also doesn't help but good to know. I have also contacted the original seller of the saw, who consequently have changed their name however they don't believe they can get parts either.
The previous owner replaced a few different parts including the pulley and motor and in the process he has re-sized(poorly by grinding or sanding) the pulley end of the arbor to accommodate an off the shelf pulley which is for some reason 14.87mm?!?!? it wont match with any imperial or metric fittings, try and work that out! So I think the only remaining option would be to machine the arbor to say 14mm and the bore the pulley to the same.
The Journey Continues!
Cheers
Dan
