Compa combination machine
Hi all,
First post on these forums. I have been clearing out my late father's workshop and have come across some machines that I was hoping someone on these forums could identify. I do not work with wood by trade so it's been difficult for me to piece these things together so far.
First up, I found this 'Compa' combination machine. I have done some research on the net and I think it is a combination table saw, planer, thicknesser, moulder and mortiser. However I haven't been able to find this particular make, I think it is italian.
There is a three-phase motor (original) and a single-phase motor that was added later. Both motors work but there appears to be quite a bit of rust.
It is quite heavy!
I've attached some pictures, thanks in advance for any help!

Manny,
First welcome to the site and have a happy new year.
Looks like a good old machine and should clean up without too much trouble. Are there any other bits like blade guards and the like laying around? I cant help with ID but it looks in reasonable shape and the rust on top is only surface rust and will scrub off ok.
Those old spindle moulder thingies give me the creeps so I would advise you not try using that bit if you like having 2 hands. There ar a few on here that like old machines and do them up so someone should be able to answer your questions.
Regards
John

Hi John,
Thanks for the reply.
I don't think I've seen any other bits that belong to this machine, but there are bits and pieces of various machines lying around the shed that I haven't identified yet. I found what I am guessing is the adjustable table for the mortiser that should slot into the two holes on the side of the machine in the picture. As far as I can tell I am missing a fence for the spindle and the spindle block (or whatever you call the thing that holds the spindle blades).
Would the blade guard be for the table saw? I don't remember there being one, and I can't see where it would attach.
Thanks for the advice re the spindle. The spindle is connected to the drive shaft via a belt which I wasn't able to fit on when I was testing the motors.
Best regards,
Manny
