    Default Cutting angles

I need to cut 60 deg angle on this timber (see photo). To get this angle on my DeWalt saw I have to set the cutting angle to 30 deg. I'm totally confused and it's 60 plus years since I did high school math but am I loosing the plot?IMG_2395 Medium.jpeg

Saw scales read as "degrees from square", so saw 0 degrees = protractor 90 degrees. You have to work back from 90, not forward from 0

doesn't matter the angle, you'll cut it and it'll be slightly wrong.... you'll swear and curse and fill with epoxy or bog and hope nobody notices like the rest of us.

What he said! Has often annoyed me that 90 degrees is marked on saws as 0
