    Default Dado set recommendations

    Hi Guys,
will be hoping to put the funds together this week on either a tsc 10HB or the CT110l tablesaw at carbatec.

I was considering purchasing a reasonably priced dado set for basic cabinet making, can anyone reccomend one?

    David

Dave, I have the Northwood Tools dado set, about $130 from memory and I am very happy with it.

Have you considered the TS10L tablesaw, a little more but worth it I think.

Of the TSC10HB and the CT110L I would pick the CT110L, much better fence and it is left tilt, nice wide table as well. Not as wide as the TS10L though...............

Have fun picking one and even more fun setting it up and using it

    Hi Fred,
    How's sunny bendigo.

Thank's for the reply, I have gone through all the previous posts on your tablesaw thread.
I am a little confused - on the carbatec website it says both saw's are 15amp but the catalogue says 240v, I noticed that in the showroom that the tsc10hb is a normal 13amp plug not the larger 15amp.

Also where did you get your dado set from and is it easy to use?

    David.

Ps thicknesser is still running like a dream.

David, not very sunny at the moment, we are actually getting some rain, beauty.

My TL10S came with the normal 10A plug and runs from a standard 10A powerpoint not the 15A.

The dado set came from Northwood Tools, yes it is easy to use, undo arbor nut - take off saw blade - put on inner dado blade - put on whatever number of "packing blades" (they only have 4 or 6 teeth and come either 1/16 or 1/8" thick - put on outer dado blade - put on nut and tighten - cut. That is it!

(BTW, the dado set cost $149.95, either it has gone up, or I remembered the price wrong - either way, well worth the money - mine has seen a lot of use so far)

Good to hear the thicknesser is still running OK, it certainly served me well.

Make sure the arbour length is suitable for dado blades. some are not long enough .

    David,

I've had the Freud dado set for a couple of years. Easy to set up. Has enough different size blades, shims, etc to make a dado of whatever width you need.

Am sure you'll have fun with the new tool

    Tex

PS My 10HB says it needs a 15 amp. Have been using it on a normal 10 amp with no problems, although I don't put anything else on that circuit when it's on.

I agree this assessment of the Freud. I use one on a 10HB and it is very good and cuts cleanly.

I have a CMT 6" set. Saw no reason to get the 8" version. Very pleased with the set, solid as a rock and can make infinite dados from min to max.
