Decisions Decisions
Have been in Adelaide for a couple of days
Visited Macwwod JET agents they have the JWSS-708781 Sliding table, 10" blade, tilting, and dado capacity, 30" Xacto fence $3555.
Gay Pye has on this forum JET JWSS-10CSPF S as far as I can tell the same as above without dust extraction system $2599 freight Adelaide $280
$2880.
Carbetec Adelaide have the CTH-110L 1PH $2395.
Fair go decisions decisions what would you get ?
Iam upgrading from Triton 2000 and will be ripping a big stack of S/H jarrah posts shortly but then they could be done on band saw considering their thickness.I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

Hi Tony.
I upgraded from a triton to a secondhand contractors saw a few years ago and am now in the position to buy a new cabinet saw. I have just started looking at jet jtas 10 and also the carba tec saw that you mentioned. I have not seen the Jet in the flesh yet, but I have seen the cth110L. The carbatec saw the blade spliter winds down when you lower the blade height, which to me is a great feature. I have made an overhead guard for my saw which I will use on the new saw. I will modify the spliter so it is no higher than the blade so when you cut out trenches you do not have to remove it as this is a pain with my saw at the moment. So I leave the spliter off all the time which is not a great idea. I will look at the Jet soon to see if the spliter does wind down if it does it may be the saw for me.
Cheers Jerry

I'm a bit bias as I have a Carbatec MJ2325CT. I mucked around with it and fitted a 300mm dia blade, to do this I had to remove the dust chute at the bottom of the blade which didn't worry me as the machine is never going to be hooked up to a dust extractor. I see the current price with sliding table is $2494.
The sliding table on the Jet that you have stated appears to be very small, the machine is a $1,000 dearer.
If the Jet is the one you want then wave some Carbatec papers/prices around.
No matter which one you choose you can probably screw them down on the price.
Good luck

Hi Tony have just come back from Power Tools and Machinery Sales dropped in on my way from work. I rang them earlier and asked about the Jet saw I was interested in but that model is finished and their web sight is abit out of date. But the did mention a Woodman saw, which I called in to see, model woosb12, its a cabinet saw with a 12inch blade great fence and the blade spliter lowers with the blade and takes a dado blade as well. My only reservation is that it is only 2hp but they have no problem with me pushing some jarrah through to try it. I will just check the price of the CTH-110L and have another look before I make up my mind,
Price of the Woodman woosb12 is $1890
Its here if you want a look.

Jerryj,Well whats your verdict. Id like to know if the Woodman is chinese or other built. At 12" with that size table and dado its a damn fine looking unit.

Hi Tony, I went along and pushed some jarrah through the woodman, just went through like butter. Had a good look at the unit very nice. $1890.00. Then I went to Carba-tec and had another look at the CTH 110L very nice saw with a larger table top. Price $2395.00. At the back of the store they had CTH 110LT which is the same same but last a titanium finnish on the table price $2095.00. Also when I asked they have CTH 110R which is same as the other CTH 110L but the blade tilts to the right.
The only thing I did not like about the woodman was the distance from the table edge to the saw blade is only 220.00 mm which seems a very short distance. I have always admired the CTH 110L , LT and R series of saws I think (Decisions Decisions) that Carba-tec might have won me. Just waiting on a friend decising if he wants to buy my old saw as I dont have room for two saws.
