Default I know you don't, but if you had to..?

    Hi folks,

I've been eying off the Woodfast TS250RC for some time but after reading about the Jet Proshop JPS-10TS I'm thinking it could be the better saw.

The sliding table on the Woodfast is nice, if it's good. There's little information available. The Jet is weightier by 60kg and may have a better rip fence. I dare say the power is much the same (2HP v 1.75HP).

I'll be doing all sorts of work on it from solids to veneer board - furniture, speaker cabinets and whatever else tickles my fancy. I can't justify the extra cost that goes into the higher powered models (power requirements) as I'm only on an apprentice wage (at 37!.. the things we do).

So, I know you don't, but if you had to choose?

Please don't throw out a zillion alternates or there's a danger my feeble brain may explode. Then the missus will kill me right after she tells me to clean up the mess. Unless you are sure it's a great alternative

Thank you all for reading and for your thoughts, much appreciated. And a great weekend to all

    Cheers,
    Ken.

I'm not familiar with either of them, but as for power, they both have enough. I have a 30+yo masport that only has 1.5 hp and it will only stall on the deepest cuts when I get too impatient.

One thing that I would look for is that the motor and blade ass, is attatched to the table top, Most of the saws out there now have the motor ass attatched to the cabinet and this causes a fair amount of vibration in the blade.

Theres a new thread in 'Product Review' at top of main forum page. Again the Jet comes out on top.
God Iam having a senior moment but there is one guy who built more mods for Triton than everybody put together, he has taken the sliding table off his Triton 2000 and added to his ??? brand table saw.

Sturdee is the man referred to by Tonto - search for the amazing 'Sturdee’s collection of TS mods and jigs'.
As many others have said, either of these will have plenty of power unless you have huge cuts to make, and then it is a case of taking it easy. I have the Jet Proshop JPS-10TS and it is great - quiet, accurate, plenty of grunt.
    Good luck.

    Hi Lazyfly

The Jet Proshop is a beautiful saw with a excellent fence, we have sold heaps of them with many happy customer's. If you have any questions about the Proshop dont hesitate to ask, I ship Australia wide on machinery and have a good rate to melbourne.

    Best Regards
    Rohan Pye
