Dust collection
I'm puzzled. I have a steel city cabinet saw. It has the opening around the throat plate for the blade. It has another opening in front for the height adjustment wheel. To the right is a door that a box with hinges. Tons of sawdust piles up inside this box even though I have a powerful cyclone dust system. Finally, to the
left Is a cover plate for accessing the belt, etc. This plate has 4 screws that have gradually worn the threads on the cabinet and are a pain in the neck when I need to get inside the cabinet. All in all, I don't see anything remotely that resembles air tight. Still, I'm a little nervous about replacing the plate with something simpler to manage. I've probably answered my own question but I still would appreciate thoughts from others about this last element.

Having an air tight cabinet is the wrong way to go as this will not move dust.
Dust cannot get out UNLESS air can get in to carry it it out - this is why cabinets should not be air tight.
The next question is what size is the dust port on the cabinet itself and what size ducting are you using.?
Even if you have attached the most powerful dust extractor to the cabinet if the port are ducting are too small not much air will flow so less dust will be extracted.
Maybe have a read of this
