Just another idea Derek, i see you upgraded your slider stop to the upgraded model, did you try using the slider insert from the original mount.
As i noticed it looked like a 10mm and and 8mm tapped thread in the insert mount.
I should have checked while i was out out the workshop today, but i got sidetracked.
Derek’s clamping solution has got me thinking about cutting small timber pieces supported by slider. Eccentric clamps (both mechanic and pneumatic) provide a quick and effective way of moving fingers away from spinnig blades (which is the best way of risk mitigation).
However, I have been somewhat uncomfortable with the (stock) Hammer’s and Derek’s clamp shaft fixing solutions. The eccentric clamps are based on a fixed clamp displacement. The clamp shaft support force/moment may end up very high, depending on clamp stiffnes between the contact with clamped timber and shaft support. The stock Hammer clamp will exert higher support reactions than smaller (and less stiff) Beyond Tools clamp. In a nutshell, I had this uneasy feeling that:
- Hammer’s clamp support may deform the slider aluminium T-slot in some situations
- Derek’s clamp support may deform the 4mm miter plare (and possibly affect the fence squareness)
Presenting concerns without solutions is rather useless, so refer below for my attempts to provide better clamp supports.
Stock Hammer Clamp
The Hammer’s circular bearing (support) washer has been replaced with more substantial steel plates. These plates are very rigid and considerably increase the support lever arm - reducing the clamp reactions at the aluminium (read soft) T slot. Kurt from KR Engineering in Perth fabricated these replacemens (some years ago).

Beyond Tools Clamp
The support shaft and washer have been modified to fit the Hammer’s fence miter plate.
The vertical (axial bearing) support is at the circular washer top. The clamp support lever arm is increased by (approximately) three times reducing forces by the same factor. Furthermore, the reaction is applied to T slot (and not the miter plate that may affect the fence squareness).

I hope the above images and explanations assist other woodworkers that may consider the use eccentric clamps.
I would be also interested to hear from existing eccentric clamp users if this problem with the clamp support(s) is only my fiction or real :C ???
