Default Old Elecrat Beckum PKR250 3.1

I have looked at the above saw. It has sat for a long time.

It is being sold by someone that I assume is the widow of the owner, so it's tough to get much info.

    - The belt is stretched, so the blade is hard to move then suddenly too easy.
    - the raising and lowering mechanism is extremely stiff, I hope from grease and sawdust.
    - I did not run it. There was not an extension cord that suited.
    - there is no riving knife, although the fitting is there.
    - obviously, for the above reason, there is no blade guard.
    - the blade is about 0.5 mm out of parallel with the mitre slot.
    - the table is very flat except for the very left hand panel which is <0.5 mm low, or there is a very slight lift at the mitre slot on that side.
    - the mitre slots are very fine fit, with no slop at all.
    - the ripping fence slot needs a bit of cleaning and maybe some wax, but the fence itself is nice and parallel to the mitre slot.

I could not get much info or written manuals even on the web. So I would like to know if the blade can be adjusted for parallel ( I could not work out how to get into the guts to work on it or change blades etc), and if the tabole can be shimmed to flatten it, or if it needs some other treatment. Or is is it within tolerance anyway.

Do I get this as a fixer-upper, at around Aud$1200, or go for something like a Metabo (Elektra Beckum) Circular Table Saw. #TKHS315M at a bit less. OR, what should I be looking at? Is the newer Metabo saw as good, potentially, as the old Electra Beckum?

I did have a cheapy table saw that had a cast iron top etc and was well-built....except in the arbour setup: it did not hold its parallel as you tilted the blade, among other things. It was out by around .5mm, which they said was within tolerance, but which spoiled the cut. It was adjustable, but only for parallel, not accuracy as it tilted.

I would appreciate any help and advice.

    Nick
