Flat Top 10" Table Saw Blade - Which One?
I am in the market for a flat top blade to use for frame & panel construction : rebates to recess plywood panels and half lap joints for the frames.
Cutting Edge Saws offers a blade made in Australia (Opteco) - 250mm diameter x 3.2/2.2 x 30mm bore x 12 teeth.
I enquired about it because it is Australian made but was advised that it was more suitable for ripping rather than crosscutting.
What would be a suitable blade for my purpose? All suggestions will be gratefully received!
Cheers Yvan

I don't think you'll buy one off the shelf Yvan. The most teeth I've seen on a 250mm flat top grind blade is 24, they're all designed for ripping. So the options would be to have a, say, 60 tooth blade reground or use some spiral bits on the router table to get the result.

Several available on Amazon.
e.g. see Freud 10 In. 50 Tooth Thin Kerf Combination Saw Blade with 5/8 In. Arbor(LU83R010): Amazon.com.au: Home Improvement
Be aware most blades on Amazon designed for the US market have a 5/8" (16mm) arbor.

I got an old blade reground flat. It cost from memory $20-$25 or thereabouts from Henry bro’s in Sydney. I’ve used it way more than I thought. Very nice to have.

Here's the link - Flat Top 10" Table Saw Blade - Which One?
How does that blade go cutting across the grain? The 24 teeth for a 200mm dia. blade is equivalent to about 36 teeth on a 250mm blade so at least the tooth count might give you a chance of getting a decent finish. 4mm is a big bite though.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I was not aware that flat-top blades were for ripping only!
I am not sure that my SawStop jobsite CS would take a dado blade and, if it does, would only take an 8" blade. Considering the cost of the blade AND the wider safety cartridge it would require, grinding the teeth of a 60-tooth blade seems the best option.
Cheers Yvan
