GPW 10/12 TS, Woodman SB-12 TS
Hi,I am about to buy a Ts and the above saw is on my shortlist. The 2hp motor is a concern especially as the saw is Dado capable, this is a feature I would use. Is there anyone out there using this saw, what are your thoughts. Jay

G'day Jay,
I just read your earlier post - welcome to the forum.
In your other post you mentioned the Carbatec CTH 110l. That's what I bought a year or two ago and it's been a great saw.
I can't comment on the GPW saw but I think there was a thread on it not that long ago after a forum member bought one. Do a search and you may find it.

G'day Kev,
G'day Kev, Ta for your reply. Yes there was an earlier post On the GPW 10/12, thats what got me started. I think the poster was Moo 73 (from memory, not always good). Post was about purchase and delivery costs etc. not about performance which leaves me in the dark. Gary Pye suggests it is a good intermediate saw a step up from the cheaper chinese versions. I would really like some feedback from usersof this saw. Jay

I have the GPW 10/12 and it is great. Plenty of power, even with the dado installed. I have had it for over 12 months now and am very happy with it. Plenty of other members have the same saw (it's sold under a number of different names) and I think, besides a few teething problems, everyone is happy.
I can recommend the GPW 10/12 and the excellent service from Gary Pye.Those were the droids I was looking for.

I also have one of these style saws, but in the Major brand name. Cabinet is different, but everything else is the same (they also have the cabinet version). All functions work well for me.
Compared to my old Delta saw which also worked well, this one is silent.Dallas

New Table saws
Hi Miterdunnit, I'm sorry but I didn't buy the 10/12; purchased a used (near new) tsc 10hb which I used at a long running job at Ballarat. It is still there and I still use it but don't own it anymore. Sold it to the boss. I then purchased an St 12d fron H+F. Both saws are 3hp???? the st12 is way more powerfull than the tsc 10hb. My 1.65 kw (or 7.4 amp) Elu flip saw is nearly as powerful as the 10hb with the st 12 considerably more powerful. I am not saying either saw is better than the other, just more powerful. The 10hb is probably finished slightly better and is a joy to use; the st12 is heavier to adjust as the adjustment wheels are not as well made or comfortable. The relevent bit for you is what type of 2hp. motor does the 10/12 have, is it a truck or F1 racing car 2hp. If it is more the racing car type I would think it may struggle a bit with the dado head, feed rates would be all important. Good luck . Jay

GPW saw
I have one and I have used a few different types of saws in the price range. There is no comparison in my opinion. It is by far the best saw for the money I have ever seen or used. The fence is the same Align A Rip fence Carbatec sell as an accessory for over $300 and it will not move out of alignment. It does not vibrate and runs super quiet. Best value tool I ever purchased. If I have $2000 or $3000 I might have gotten something bigger but for the money I had to spend I got a very good saw. Two horse power cuts all the timber I put through it.
My age is still less than my number of posts

Have same saw too.....Tiawanese made and sold under various model names....I have the cabinet version from Woodman as well. Will run a 8" dado out to 3/4" no probs as long as you don't take to deep a pass in HW.
I have 2 issues with it though (others none....it's how the dice fall when you buy it): the table was bowed (concave) towards the blade. This makes it hard to get good straight cuts when ripping or x-cutting. The replacement table was not much better so ended up getting it machined flat.
The other issue I have with it is that as I move the blade up or down there is a very slight lateral movement of the blade .... Another words won't stay in exactly sme place when moved up or down.....haven't worked out solution for that yet.
Riving knife is fiddle to adjust but essential......I got rid of my guard (made a new one) and machined (modified) the knife saw that it can stay in when using the dado blade as it would be a pain removing and replacing every time I change between dado and normal blade.
Otherwise good mid level saw when budget can't afford better. I'm happy with it until I win some money and buy a Powematic or Saw stop.
Cheers
