Hammer K3: Upgraded flipstop
K3 owners: I've bought the Marius Hornberger-inspired updated flipstop for my K3. Felder have sent the stop, as well as the replacement attachment for the fence. However, this 'new' part appears to be exactly the same as my old one:
Original improved bit from Marius' youtube video:

The bit sent by felder:

Has anyone else done the upgrade, and did you get the same bit as me, or one like Mr Hornbreger?

Yes, when you find out why let us all in on the secret. The only difference I recall is the clamping screw is higher on one than the other but as I sold the old one I can't compare them now.

Hi Chris
I reported on this here shortly after Felder released the upgrade. That was about a year ago?
I also reported on this indirectly when mentioning what you could do with the old clamp - use it for the 45 degree mitre.

Chris and Derek, what I'm asking is whether you received the new style clamp screw? The old one has the clamp knob and screw as one piece. Marius' new one had the screw portion bonded to the t-track clamp bar.
The 'new' one I;ve received is the same as the old one i have - the screw and knob are all one bit, and screw into the t-bar

Yep, the same as mine, all I wanted was the adjuster and why they supply a new quadrant and clamping screw beats me. Derek's idea looks good but I don't need it and I never use hold down clamps except on the very odd occasion, perhaps two or three times since having the saw.CHRIS

Old ...
New ...
Add in a zero clearance to end of fence ...
... and for mitre ...
I am adding a page to my website for power tool mods. Seriously.

Chris, essentially no difference, other than the height as you point out. I drilled the old one for the hold down - in case I screwed it up. It is still there.

The difference is this:

Rather than having the screw at the bottom of the clamping screw screwing directly into the bar, the new design above has a section bonded to the bar. This eliminates play as you tighten the adjuster.

Mystery solved and I must admit I missed that, thanks Bernard. I wonder if that was part of the original problem and Felder neglected to explain why it was modified as part of the fix. I can't recall noticing any issues but it was a few years ago and old age has definitely set in.

Chris, I thought you understood this as you mentioned "higher" with regard the clamping screw (the tall one). But in practice it makes no difference, not as far as I have found since I have swapped between the two (and am using the original as it cannot be removed from the plate (anyone tell me how?).
